Tesco invites you to “Unleash the sex kitten inside…”
We just came across an article here which reveals that Tesco has upset some customers by selling Peekaboo pole dancing kits on its Tesco Direct website.
According to the article:
Dr Adrian Rogers, of family campaigning group Family Focus said yesterday that the kit would “destroy children’s lives”.
He said: “Tesco is Britain’s number one chain, this is extremely dangerous. It is an open invitation to turn the youngest children on to sexual behaviour.
“This will be sold to four, five and six-year olds. This is a most dangerous toy that will contribute towards destroying children’s innocence.”
He added: “Children are being encouraged to dance round a pole which is interpreted in the adult world as a phallic symbol.
Strong words indeed and perhaps a bit of an over-reaction since we are not aware of many four or five year olds regularly purchasing goods online? It does appear, however, that the pole dancing kit was in the toys section of the site, which could be considered inapropriate. It has now been restricted to the ‘fitness’ section, proving that sex and sex toys are clearly the way to a healthier heart!
The article is an interesting read and the comments prove that attitudes to sex toys are still evolving.
In the meantime, don’t mess around with cheap immitations, we would recommend you have a look at the X-Pole Professional model available in our fun sex toys category.
Happy dancing!
